The Unpronounceable Irish Band

The Unpronounceable Irish Band (UIB) *does* have a name.... but a patron at the Oklahoma Renaissance Festival saw "Bailiu Ceoil" on the sign outside the stage area in 2011 and remarked on the survey that they loved the "Irish band with the unpronounceable name", and that just kinda stuck! The members of the ensemble are Bruce Cannon on guitar; Angela Cannon on violin; and Amber Cannon on pennywhistle and flute. Bruce has played guitar since age 10; Angela is a classically trained violinist, and was a soloist in orchestra. Amber has played flute since high school days, and learned first recorder, then penny-whistle when she started performing at OKRF in 2002. They have been involved in period re-enactment festivals up and down the I-35 corridor since 1997. This configuration of the group was formed in late 2013 when they put together an ensemble to perform dance music for the cast of the OU Norman Medieval Fair for April 2014. In January of 2015, they performed for the Medieval Fair Mid-Winter Ball, and the Dance Master of the Oklahoma Renaissance Festival (OKRF) saw them perform there. He asked them to perform for the 2017 season of OKRF as the dance band and they have been the dance band for both the OU Norman Medieval Fair and OKRF in Muskogee ever since.
